The Lucky Little Labrador: Haunted Halloween! Review

Title: The Lucky Little Labrador: Haunted Halloween!
Author: C. J. Smiles

Lucky, the Labrador dog, returns in The Lucky Little Labrador: Haunted Halloween! to save Halloween. Lucky is a dog that is always getting into trouble somehow. In this “The Lucky Little Labrador” book, Lucky and Kevin go trick-or-treating but spooky things start happening around Kevin before and on Halloween. Kevin doesn’t have to worry though because Lucky is there to save him from all the scary things of Halloween.

This book is entertaining and funny. I was
pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing at the part when Lucky runs off while trick-or-treating with Kevin. He got distracted by a squirrel and that is why he ran off. I could just picture that happening for real! The really scary part of the story is when Kevin has to go to Mr. Jenkins’ scary “haunted” house in order to find his dog. Kevin gets scared at Mr. Jenkins’ house so it is a good thing Lucky is there to protect him! The whole story is adorable though, and the ending was nice. The ending gives children a message about loyalty and family.

There are plenty of cute pictures in this book as well. The author uses real pictures of the Labrador and some other characters throughout the book. My favorite photo was of Lucky dressed in his dragon Halloween costume. He looked so funny and adorable!

I also like the short vocabulary list at the front of the book. It is a great way for children to learn some new words.

There were some great moments in this book that made me laugh for real. The story is very entertaining and makes for a perfect Halloween read.

Rating: 5//5 Moons

October Read-a-Thons

Fright Fall Read-A-Thon!
October 1st - October 7th

One whole week of reading scary/horror books. More in formation can be found here. This is perfect for getting ready for Halloween. Speaking of Halloween, is anyone dressing up this year? I know it is still more than a month away, but does anyone already have plans? I will probably be passing out candy this year. At the moment I don't have a costume though.

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon!
October 13th

You can read more about this read-a-thon here. This sounds like such a fun challenge. I don't know if I can read for 24 hours straight though! I am going to try to participate in this one but it will depend on how much work I have at the time.

I'm pretty excited for this! I loved reading fairy tales when I was a child so this is going to be fun.
